Arts

West Cornwall is famous for the Tate at St Ives, Newlyn Art Gallery (for cutting-edge modern art) and Penlee Art Gallery in Penzance (exhibiting changing exhibitions of the Newlyn School of Art). Over 20 independent galleries and specialist shops/studios are also based in the lesser-known St Just heritage area, which has long been an inspiration to artists and is now also home to a growing number of acclaimed artists who have helped inject it with a new lease of creative life.

These include major names like David Kemp, Rose Hilton, Jason Wason, Anthony Frost, and leading British landscape artist Kurt Jackson whose work is part of a social and personal commitment to the environment around him and closely reflects its distinctiveness.
