Scenic attractions and wildlife trail
1 Land ’s End – theme park set within magni ficent scenery 0870 458 0099 www.landsend-landmark.co.uk
2 Mayon Cliff, Sennen (NT) – information point in former coastguard lookout; dolphin/whale sightings if you’re lucky.
3 Porth Nanven – outstanding example of a raised beach.
4 Carn Gloose – steep headland with granite outcrops and tremendous views.
5 Cape Cornwall (NT) – great views from the only place in England to be named a “cape” with fine ornamental hill-top chimney, tiny fishing cove, Coastguard Lookout on the cliffs, The Brisons (rocks notorious for shipwrecks), Porthledden (rocky shore and haven for marine biologists and geologists) and rich wildlife including seal and dolphin sightings if you’re lucky.
6 Carn Kenidjack – excellent view point from rocky summit with a mythical reputation as a den of giants and devils.
7 Pendeen Lighthouse – spectacularly located where Atlantic seas batter a rugged coast 01736 788418. Access (to east by foot at low tide) to nearby beautiful but hazardous cove.
8 Carn Galver (NT) – engine house remains and excellent view of ancient coastline from outer carn of Neolithic site on summit of hill (on moorland on opposite side of the road)
9 Zennor Head – prominent headland.
10 The Carracks – good for seal sightings.
11 Baker ’s Pit (CWT) – 111 acre nature reserve in old china clay works.
12 Rosewall Hill (NT) – amazing views over Penwith moors and St Ives bay.

Ancient sites trail
1 Chapel Carn Brea (NT) – Cornwall ’s first and last hill (657 ft) crowned with ancient cairns and offering spectacular panoramic views over Penwith.
2 Carn Euny (EH) – remains of late pre-historic courtyard houses 1km walk from Grumbla.
3 Bollowall Barrow (EH managed by NT) – unusual and outstanding example of Bronze Age burial cairn.
4 Tregaseal Stone Circle – originally one of three early Bronze age circles here.
5 Kenidjack Castle – early Iron Age cliff castle set in rugged cliffs (for hardened walkers only)
6 Pendeen fogou – pre-historic underground burial chamber.
7 Chun Quoit – Neolithic chamber tomb; and Chun Castle – Iron Age stone-built hill fort.
8 Men-an-Tol – mysterious pre-historic holed stone 1km walk from Bosullow.
9 Lanyon Quoit (NT) – burial tomb dating from the Neolithic period (just off road)
10 Madron Holy Well – early Christian.
11 Men Scryfa – inscribed granite pillar dating from the Iron Age.
12 Nine Maidens – classic stone circle.

15 Zennor Quoit – Britain ’s largest Neolithic chamber tomb.

17 Merry Maidens – one of Cornwall ’s best preserved stone circles, easily accessed from B3315.
18 Sancreed Holy Well – early Christian in lovely location.

1 Kenidjack Valley (NT) – former powerhouse of Victorian mining in a stunning setting; internationally important for both its history and wildlife.
2 Botallack – The Count House Workshop, Botallack (NT) – information about local history and wild-life; Botallack calciner and related structures – the world ’s best preserved arsenic works; and The Crowns, Botallack – engine houses spectacularly perched on rugged cliffs above the sea.
